Dr. Meagan Jones, LCMHCS

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor

I’m Dr. Meagan Jones, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Supervisor.  I have been providing mental health counseling services in a variety of settings since 2008.  I have been honored to walk alongside many people in my counseling journey, and I treasure each story that I am allowed to be a part of.  My job is to support you in your journey, and I do this by listening, supporting, and gently challenging you.  I often approach counseling in a narrative way listening to your story and helping you to construct the new narrative that best suits you and your unique life journey.  Your story matters.  Your story deserves to be told.  I am so humbled and honored to listen to and be a part of people’s stories each day.

I believe that working together is paramount to the therapeutic experience.  My therapeutic technique is interactive and supportive. Our times together will feel similar to walking along a path, side by side, discovering concerns that are important to living a more meaningful life and enjoying a greater satisfaction in relationships.  Your life stories are important and we will explore these stories: past, present and future.

We will actively work together to identify challenges that interfere with your goals, relationships, and overall sense of well-being.

My Approach

I have had the privilege of having some varied experiences in my counseling career. I specialize in mental health disorders, substance abuse and addictions, crisis, parenting, relationship issues, sex trafficking, sexual trauma, career issues, and family issues. I have also worked with children and teens, and I have some experience and training in play therapy. I have conducted research in the areas of sexual trauma, sex trafficking, sex therapy, and family counseling. I have received training in several different theoretical approaches and treatment modalities. I tend to use concepts from Narrative Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral therapy, Solution Focused therapy, and Systemic Family therapy. I also tend to use a Rogerian or Person-centered approach to counseling through giving unconditional positive regard and allowing the client to drive the core of the therapy. I have specialized training in trauma focused counseling, and I have received my certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional in addition to having over 10 years of experience in treating trauma. For the past several years I have been specializing in helping the parents of LGBTQ+ individuals, and I have been teaching and presenting on this topic as well.
